Real searches. Real rivals.
- 01
Pick your app.
Search by name or paste its App Store link, and choose the store you sell in.
- 02
We ask Apple.
Autocomplete for your app's words gives up to 10 real searches. Each gets a demand check and a live top 200.
- 03
Lead with three.
The searches with demand and a beatable top 3 come first, with every rival's ratings shown.
Demand × winnability × closeness
The same rules as the Opportunities view in ASO Mochi. Demand is how early Apple autocompletes the search. Winnability is the ratings count of the weakest app in the top 3, lower when rivals carry the exact phrase in their name. Closeness is your current rank. Every search then lands in one group:
- You can win
- Apple autocompletes it, and the top 3 are beatable for a small app.
- You hold it
- You're already top 3. That's where most taps go, so protect these first.
- Crowded
- 3 or more of the top 5 carry the search as an exact phrase in their name. Exact names beat ratings for small apps.
- Incumbents
- Every app in the top 3 has 1,000+ ratings.
- No demand signal
- Apple doesn't autocomplete it, even fully typed. Weak evidence: it may still get a few searches.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No signup and no email. Each check reads Apple's public App Store search and autocomplete live, so there's a limit of a few fresh checks per hour. Shared reports open instantly.
How do you measure demand without Apple Ads?
With Apple's own autocomplete. We type a search a few letters at a time and note how early Apple suggests it word for word. Apple completes early only for searches people type a lot, so 5 dots means it showed up after 40% of the letters.
What makes a search winnable?
Demand, plus a top 3 a small app can pass. We look at the ratings count of the weakest app in the top 3 and how many of the top 5 carry the search as an exact phrase in their name, then weigh in how close you already are. The ratings are always shown, so you can judge for yourself.
Where do the searches come from?
Apple's autocomplete for the words in your app's name, subtitle and category. Other apps' brand names are left out, since targeting them breaks App Store guideline 2.3.7.
Does it work for Android?
No. ASO Mochi is iOS only, on purpose.
