Astro alternatives for indie iOS developers (2026)

Updated · By Brian, who makes ASO Mochi

Full disclosure: I make ASO Mochi. ASO Mochi is one of the alternatives below. Astro is a good tool, and this page says when you should stay with it.

Short answer

Astro is a Mac app with Apple Search Ads popularity and unlimited keywords for $108 a year. Look elsewhere if you don’t use a Mac, want to pay monthly or start free, or need Google Play.

Marteso is the best free alternative. ASO Mochi, which I make, is $9 a month in a browser and shows which release moved your ranks. Kōmori is the closest Mac app with monthly billing. ASO.dev runs on Mac and Windows. AppTweak, Appfigures and ASOMobile cover both stores.

When to stay with Astro

Astro is a Mac app that pulls keyword popularity straight from Apple Search Ads, scores how hard each keyword is to reach the top 10 for, and tracks unlimited keywords with daily rank updates in the 60+ storefronts where Search Ads runs. It also suggests keywords, pulls rivals' keywords and translates them. There's one plan: $108 a year for one Mac license, with 14 days to ask for a refund. Its demand data is better than ASO Mochi's: Apple's popularity numbers are finer than our autocomplete dots. If that fits how you work, keep it. The alternatives below are for the cases where it doesn’t.

Seven Astro alternatives

Price is the cheapest paid plan that tracks keyword ranks, roughly low to high. Free plans and trials are listed under it.

The alternatives, one by one

ASO Mochi

$9/mo, billed monthly · Web. App Store only.

ASO Mochi is a daily App Store rank tracker for indie iOS developers. It checks the top 200 for every keyword each day and marks the days you or a rival shipped an update, so you can see which release moved which keyword. Indie is $9/mo (3 apps, 100 keywords each, a year of history, 10 countries per app), Studio is $19/mo, and the first 100 founders can pay $149 once. It's new, made by one person, App Store only, and your rank history starts the day you add a keyword.

Pick it if
you ship often and want to know which update, or which post, moved your ranks.
Skip it if
you need Google Play, Search Ads popularity numbers, or download estimates for other apps.

How this was checked

Prices and plan limits come from each vendor’s own pricing page, read on October 23, 2026, and every price links to its source. Where a vendor’s page doesn’t say something, this page doesn’t claim it. Prices change: if one here is out of date, email aloha@mahalomochi.com and I’ll fix it.
