Best ASO tools for indie iOS developers (2026)

Updated · By Brian, who makes ASO Mochi

Full disclosure: I make ASO Mochi. I’ve tried to be fair: the table says where each tool beats mine, and every price links to the vendor’s own page.

Short answer

If you work on a Mac and want Apple Search Ads popularity for unlimited keywords, get Astro ($9/mo, billed yearly). If you want to start free, start with Marteso. If App Store Connect itself is the pain, try ASO.dev. If you also need Google Play or download numbers, look at AppTweak or Appfigures.

If you want to see which release moved your ranks, use ASO Mochi, which I make: a daily App Store rank tracker for indie iOS developers, $9/mo with a free plan.

The tools, one by one

Astro

$9/mo, billed yearly ($108) · Mac app (macOS 14+). App Store only.

Astro is a Mac app that pulls keyword popularity straight from Apple Search Ads, scores how hard each keyword is to reach the top 10 for, and tracks unlimited keywords with daily rank updates in the 60+ storefronts where Search Ads runs. It also suggests keywords, pulls rivals' keywords and translates them. There's one plan: $108 a year for one Mac license, with 14 days to ask for a refund. Its demand data is better than ASO Mochi's: Apple's popularity numbers are finer than our autocomplete dots.

It's new, made by one person, App Store only, and your rank history starts the day you add a keyword.

How this was checked

Prices and plan limits come from each vendor’s own pricing page, read on October 23, 2026, and every price links to its source. Where a vendor’s page doesn’t say something, this page doesn’t claim it. Prices change: if one here is out of date, email aloha@mahalomochi.com and I’ll fix it.

Questions

What's the best free ASO tool for indie iOS developers?

Marteso's free plan is the most generous of these seven: 2 apps, 50 keywords each and 5 countries, updated daily. ASOMobile's free plan has 20 keywords across 2 apps, and ASO Mochi's has 1 app, 25 keywords, 2 countries and 30 days of history. Appfigures' free plan covers sales and downloads, not keyword ranks.

What's the cheapest paid ASO tool?

Astro and ASO Mochi, both $9 a month. Astro is sold by the year ($108) for one Mac. ASO Mochi bills monthly and runs in a browser, with a $149 lifetime option for its first 100 customers.

Which ASO tools cover both the App Store and Google Play?

AppTweak, Appfigures and ASOMobile. ASO.dev manages Google Play listings, but its Google Play keyword ranks are listed as coming soon. Astro, Marteso and ASO Mochi are App Store only.

Do I need Apple Search Ads popularity scores?

They're the closest thing to search volume Apple gives out, and Astro reads them directly. ASO Mochi instead estimates demand from how early Apple's autocomplete suggests a search, shown as 1 to 5 dots. That's coarser, but you can check it yourself by typing the search. For choosing between two keywords either works; for sizing a market, Search Ads numbers are better.

Why trust a comparison written by a competitor?

Don't take it on faith. Every price links to the vendor's own pricing page, the date it was checked is on the page, and each tool's section says where it beats ASO Mochi. If something is out of date, email aloha@mahalomochi.com.

Try ASO Mochi without signing up

The free keyword tool checks up to 10 real searches for your app: demand from Apple’s autocomplete, your rank in the top 200, and the ratings of the apps ahead of you.
